給水器

蒸汽機車使用一種稱為「噴射給水器（Injector）」的裝置將水自水箱注入鍋爐。給水器以蒸汽壓力將水在容器之間進行轉移。通常透過旋轉打開、關閉一個較大的閥門進行操作。

自煤水車中注入鍋爐中的水的尚未加熱，它會影響鍋爐中的既有水溫。因此，建議根據所消耗水量緩慢且連續地注入所須水量，以免過度干擾蒸汽的產生。水溫並無法直接監控，只能透過觀察壓力表指針的移動速度間接進行推斷。

There is no way to monitor water temperature, other than indirectly by looking at the speed the boiler pressure gauge needle is moving.

Injectors normally rely on steam pressure to inject water, but in Derail Valley this limitation is omitted to avoid complications when starting a cold engine.
