Bromssystemet kan övervakas via bromstrycksmätare, vanligtvis placerade i hytten på ett motoriserat fordon. Huvudbehållaremätaren ska alltid visa högt tryck, upp till 8 bar och den fylls automatiskt på av kompressorn. Huvudledningens arbetstryck är mellan 3,5 bar när bromsen är helt ansatt och 5 bar när den är helt lossad (eftersom mätare visar tryck i förhållande till atmosfärstrycket är de faktiska absoluta trycken ungefär 1 bar högre än vad som anges på mätaren). Bromscylindertrycket går mellan 0 och 3,75 bar och representerar den faktiska bromskraften som appliceras på hjulen. Eftersom bromstryckmätare ibland delas av flera nålar, representeras bromscylindertrycket normalt av en röd nål på Huvudledningsmätaren.

Since gauges display pressures relative to the atmospheric pressure, the actual absolute pressures are approximately 1 bar higher than what's indicated on the gauge and used in technical documentation.
