Baglæns

Reverser er en betjeningsenhed, typisk et håndtag, der bruges til at indstille bevægelsesretningen for et motoriseret jernbanekøretøj - fremad, baglæns eller neutral. Sidstnævnte adskiller typisk hjulene fra drivlinjen helt.Baglæns bør aldrig betjenes, når et køretøj er i bevægelse, for at undgå katastrofale skader på drivaggregatet. Af samme grund skal gas- og dynamiske bremser typisk kobles fra, for at vendegearet kan betjenes.

Vehicles equipped with a reverser can run both forward and backward with equal capacity, and are even equipped with lights on both ends for this purpose. Depending on the vehicle design, the only difference when changing orientation can be the driving visibility, and cooling behavior .
