동력 분산

Derail Valley에는 두 가지 유형의 동력 분산식 차량이 있습니다. "설계상"은 탄수차가 있는 증기 기관차 또는 여객용 동차와 같이 여러개의 차량이 영구적으로 연결되도록 설계된 동력 분산식 차량입니다. "총괄 제어"는 기관사가 총괄 제어 케이블로 수동으로 연결한 동력 분산식 차량입니다.

일부 동력차에는 양쪽 끝에 파란색으로 된 "총괄 제어 케이블”이 장착되어 있습니다. 이 케이블은 다른 차량의 총괄 제어 케이블에 공기 호스를 연결하듯이 손으로 연결할 수 있습니다. 여러 차량들이 총괄 제어 케이블로 연결되면 마치 하나의 차량인 것처럼 운전실 한곳에서 한명의 기관사가 여러대의 동력차를 일제히 제어가 가능합니다. 이 기능은 일부 전기, 디젤-전기 및 디젤-액압 기관차 또는 동차에서 사용할 수 있습니다. 총괄 제어가 제대로 작동하려면 모든 차량의 엔진과 차단기가 켜져 있어야 합니다.

Such vehicles can also be equipped with wireless MU controller gadgets , which let them sync at distance, without the use of cables.

When multiple-units are connected, whether by cable or wirelessly, they operate in unison, all controlled by a single driver, as if they were a single vehicle. This feature is available on some electric , diesel-electric and diesel-hydraulic motorized vehicles. The vehicles need to have their engines and breakers turned on individually for the MU connection to function properly.

It is allowed to have some vehicles in MU configuration oriented differently from others. In such a case their reverser automatically adapts to the desired direction of travel. Headlights and taillights automatically adapt in MU configurations, too.
