A vasúti járműveken található fékberendezések feladata a mozgási energia felemésztése, így a vasúti jármű lassítása, a sebességtartás (lejtős pályaszakaszon), a megállítás, valamint az állva tartás. Számos fékberendezés létezik és található meg vontatójárműveken és vasúti kocsikon egyaránt, mind-mind valamilyen egyedi jellegzetességgel, amely egy-egy fékezési feladatra alkalmasabbá teszi, mint egy másikat. Működtetésük általában külön-külön történik, fékezőszeleppel vagy fékkontrollerrel, esetleg egy forgatókar elforgatásával, de léteznek több fékberendezést együtt működtető kezelőszervek is (pl. MÁV V63 sorozat Knorr D15-ös típusjelű, villamosfék-kontrollerrel is rendelkező fékezőszelepe).
A nálunk megszokott kezelési módtól eltérően a játékban a fékezőszelepek működtetése szinte mindig olyan módon történik, hogy a fékhatás növelése érdekében a mozdonyvezető magától elfelé, előretolja a fékezőszelep karját. Ez annak érdekében van így, hogy vészhelyzet esetén a mozdonyvezetőnek ne kelljen gondolkodnia a különböző fékezőszelepek állásain, és a fékhatás késedelem nélkül alakulhasson ki.
A fékberendezések típusai a következők:
Átmenő fék:
Folytatólagos működésű (átmenő), önműködő légnyomásos fékberendezés, az üzemi fékezés legfontosabb szereplője.

- Excessive dynamic brake use leading to powertrain overheating.
Warnings
Depending on the session difficulty settings, a flashing warning light above the brake pipe gauge indicates certain problems with the braking system. They are:
- There is a handbrake applied somewhere on the train.
- One of the brake pipe valves is incorrectly setup somewhere on the train.
- There are more than one brake control devices cut in, or none is, on the train.
