Similarly to body damage on locomotives , cars and cargo can also be damaged by collisions, fire or getting submerged in water.
Different cars and cargo types have different resilience to different types of damage, which may make some exceptionally durable or fragile. Particularly sensitive cargo types are those requiring the Fragile license , which includes HAZMAT cargo .
Sufficiently damaged cars and cargo can leak hazardous materials , potentially causing a catastrophe .
Damage state of each car and its cargo can be seen on the car's ID plate .
Car damage can be forced manually in sandbox mode using the comms radio damage mode .
Damaged cars and cargo generate fees .
