The remote controller is a handheld device used to operate certain locomotive types remotely. It is designed for use in shunting operations within a limited range.
To use the remote controller:
1. Click the power button (PWR) to turn it on
2. Take the controller inside a supported locomotive
3. Click the pair button (PAIR LOCO) to pair the controller with the vehicle
4. The vehicle can now be operated with the controller
Whether a vehicle is compatible with the remote controller can be seen in the vehicle catalog.
Recommended operational range for the remote controller is up to 400m. Signal loss may occur above that range, with a complete loss at 650m and above.
Warning: There is no safety mechanism to stop the paired vehicle if it goes out of range.
The controller’s range can be extended by an additional 2000m using the signal booster found in the caboose work train. For the boost to be engaged, the caboose needs to be in the recommended range of the remote controller.
The remote controller is battery powered. It can be slow-charged by being exposed to sunlight, or fast-charged with the caboose’s battery charger.
