Гальма — це пристрої, встановлені на борту залізничних транспортних засобів, які використовуються для їх уповільнення, зупинки або утримання на місці. Існує кілька різних типів гальм, які зазвичай присутні на моторизованому та іншому рухомому складі, і кожен з них є переважним для певної мети. Кожна з них керується окремим пристроєм управління, зазвичай важелем або руків’ям, який може бути розташований всередині кабіни або зовні транспортного засобу.
Задіяння гальм майже завжди орієнтовано від машиніста. Це робиться для того, щоб у випадку аварійної ситуації машиніст міг перевести всі важелі вперед, як захід безпеки, без необхідності думати про окремі правила для кожного органу управління.

- Prolonged mechanical brake usage resulting in brake shoe overheating and loss of braking power.
- Incorrectly setup brake cutout valves, resulting in dysfunctional train brakes.
- Excessive dynamic brake use leading to powertrain overheating.
Warnings
Depending on the session difficulty settings, a flashing warning light above the brake pipe gauge indicates certain problems with the braking system. They are:
- There is a handbrake applied somewhere on the train.
- One of the brake pipe valves is incorrectly setup somewhere on the train.
- There are more than one brake control devices cut in, or none is, on the train.
