Per trasmissione elettrica si intende l’insieme dei sistemi elettrici che mettono in moto un veicolo, comprese batterie, pantografi e motori di trazione. I danni a questo tipo di trasmissione possono verificarsi a seguito di collisioni, ma principalmente per un sovraccarico dei sistemi elettrici causato dall’eccessiva corrente. In caso di funzionamento improprio o di negligenza nell'uso dell'amperometro e del tachigrafo, il veicolo può subire gravi guasti e persino prendere fuoco.
