Turntable
Appearance
Turntables are short pieces of track on a mechanized structure that can be spun around along with one or more rail vehicles parked on it. Turntables are typically found near train yards and serve as a way to change vehicle orientation in a tight space, or to access radially placed parking tracks, such as at a roundhouse .
A turntable needs to be well aligned to bring a vehicle on it. Make sure that the vehicle is positioned entirely within the turntable and clear of any obstacles, with its brakes secured , before engaging the spinning. With improper operation, significant damage to the vehicle can occur.
Turntables can be operated in a few ways:
- by the turntable control lever, usually found in a nearby booth
- by physically pushing against the rod at the end of the turntable track
- via UI in mouse mode, depending on difficulty settings
- via keyboard shortcuts, depending on difficulty settings
Turntables produce a click sound when they align with a track.
