Skader på elektrisk drivlinje
Elektrisk drivlinje refererer til elektriske systemer, der sætter et køretøj i gang, herunder batterier, strømaftagere og banemotorer. Skader på elektriske drivlinjer kan opstå ved kollisioner, men mest på grund af overbelastning af de elektriske systemer med for høj strøm. I tilfælde af ukorrekt betjening og uagtsomhed af amperemeter måleren kan køretøjet gøres ubevægeligt og gå i brand.
Damage to such a powertrain subsystem can occur from collisions , but it is much more severe when caused by overloading electrical systems with excessive current , premature reverser operation and traction motor overspeeding .
High electrical powertrain damage can be catastrophic, potentially fully immobilizing the vehicle and setting it on fire.
Small amount of electrical powertrain damage is also accumulated from proper operation of power sources and traction motors, which falls under regular wear and tear. The higher the current passing through traction motors, the more damage they will receive. While this damage cannot be avoided, by operating the machines efficiently it can be reduced to a minimum.
