軔機,即煞車,是安裝在鐵路車輛上 ,用於使車輛減速、停下或維持車輛靜止的裝置。動力車輛和無動力車輛通常搭載了多種於不同情境有著相應優勢的制動系統。這些系統通常得透過位於車輛駕駛室 中或車身外部的操縱桿、舵輪進行操作。

軔機控制裝置緊軔的操作方向幾乎總是遠離司機員。這樣一來,遭遇緊急情況時,司機員僅須向前方推動所有操縱桿,而無需考慮個別控制裝置的操作方向。
