EOT Lantern
Appearance
The end-of-train (EOT) lantern is a weak, handheld omnidirectional red light source. It requires a lighter to be turned on. There is a knob on the side that controls the dipping of the wick in oil. This drives the light intensity and is also used to put the lantern out.
This lantern’s purpose is to serve as a taillight on vehicles that don’t have one integrated. It can be attached to any vehicle’s coupler, where it will stay safely secured for as long as the coupler isn’t tampered with.
The EOT lantern should be handled with care, as it could ignite flammable fumes or liquids in its vicinity.
