Tracks with IDs are station tracks with unique addresses. These addresses allow them to be referred to in delivery orders , as well as to navigate to them with station maps .

Other than in books, track IDs are also shown on physical signs. Track ID signs are pole-mounted structures found on the right side of the respective tracks, on their both ends, designed to inform of their ID. Regardless of the signs' position, however, the tracks span the entire section from switch to switch.

Das letzte Zeichen in der Gleisbezeichnung dient dazu, den Zweck des jeweiligen Gleises anzuzeigen. Mögliche Werte:

I - Input

I – Eingang (Input):
Hier fahren beladene Züge ein.

O - Output

O – Ausgang (Output):
Von hier aus fahren beladene Züge aus.

S - Storage

S – Abstellung (Storage):
Hier werden Wagen fürs Rangieren und für Leerfahrten abgestellt.

L - Cargo Transfer

L – Güterumschlag (Loading):
Hier werden Wagen mit dem Umschlagautomat be- und entladen.

LP - Passenger Transfer

LP – Bahnsteig (Loading Passenger):
Ein Gleis mit einem Bahnsteig, an dem der Fahrgastwechsel stattfindet und die Post umgeladen wird.

SP – Abstellung Personenwagen (Storage Passenger):
Hier werden Personenwagen und Triebwagen abgestellt.

P – Lokabstellung (Parking):
Hier werden Lokomotiven abgestellt.
