Caboose is a work train used as a multi-purpose support vehicle to the crew. It needs to be unlocked first in order to become available to the driver. To unlock it, the driver must buy a key to a special garage in one of the shops , find the garage and open it.

Once unlocked, the caboose can be towed or summoned using the comms radio for a fee , depending on the session difficulty settings . The caboose cannot be damaged and it doesn't have service costs .

Caboose has a number of useful features. Its spacious interior can be used to store items and sleep in. It shows a marker on the world map , making it useful to track the exact end of the train. The driver can "jump" between the caboose and any motorized vehicle on the train for free, instantaneously, using the world map. The caboose features a powerful handbrake , which can be used to slow down heavy trains when going downhill. Its brake shoes are resilient to overheating and don’t cause wheelslide either. With a career manager located inside, caboose can also be used as a mobile service point .
