Sandbox is a game mode that lets the you play without restrictions. This is useful when wanting to do a quick driving session, experiment or record videos, for example. In sandbox, you're able to spawn vehicles freely and cause damage without having to pay for the fees . What sandbox doesn’t have however, is buying licenses and career progression .

The way a sandbox session starts depends on a selected scenario. Scenario defines a starting train, starting location, as well as a starting time of day and weather conditions . You can create and share scenarios, with any of these parameters set to your preference. The parameters can even be set to be randomized on each session start.

Some motorized vehicles are not immediately available in sandbox mode and must first be unlocked in career mode .

In sandbox mode you are free to use any difficulty presets right away, be it default or custom made.
