To dismiss a motorized rail vehicle park it on any track designated for parking. Such vehicles remain in place for some time before they despawn, typically two hours in real-time.

The cars, on the other hand, should be left wherever their delivery order indicates they should be, to avoid unnecessary track blockage.

In case of an emergency, such as a train derailment , you are free to abandon the train to look for helper vehicles, pursue other orders to earn money for rerailing , or do anything else. If derailed cars are bound to an active order, they will remain in place permanently. If the order is canceled , however, the cars will despawn as soon as you make some distance from them.

Cars can also be cleared with the comms radio. Doing so, however, cancels the respective delivery order and may cost money, depending on the session difficulty settings . In career mode , it’s recommended to use this function only when absolutely necessary.
