Track ID Signs
Track IDs are unique addresses that some tracks in stations are assigned. These addresses make it possible to refer to specific tracks in delivery orders , as well as to navigate to them with station maps .
Other than in books, track IDs are also shown on physical signs. Track ID signs are pole-mounted structures found on the right side of tracks , on their both ends, designed to inform of their ID.
If we take an ID example of "C-06S", "C" here represents a particular yard in the station. "06" indicates a specific track in that yard. "S" indicates the storage purpose of the given track. There are a few track types:
I – Input
This is where freight haul deliveries arrive.
O – Output
This is where freight haul deliveries depart from.
S - Storage
This is where empty cars are stored for shunting and logistical haul deliveries.
L - Cargo Transfer
This is where cars are loaded and unloaded, using the cargo transfer machine .
LP - Passenger Transfer
This is a track with a platform where the passengers and mail get transferred from.
SP – Passenger Storage
This is where coaches and railcars are parked.
