Private locomotives are work trains that you can own, and are not the property of DVRT . The only way to acquire private locomotives is through demonstrator restoration . To gain access to a private locomotive, you must have a respective license for that type of locomotive.
Unlike the DVRT locomotives, private ones don't despawn, which makes them particularly suitable for customization with paint jobs , gadgets and train parts .
Private locomotives can be requested with the comms radio for a fee , depending on the session difficulty settings . They can receive damage , consume resources and need to be manually serviced .
These locomotives can be found in the world only in career mode , and in sandbox mode they can be recreated from any locomotive with the comms radio livery mode .
