Proximity Sensor

Proximity sensor and proximity hub are gadgets that work in unison to help prevent collisions , by alerting of proximity of obstacles in the way of a train . Their purpose is primarily to make shunting easier and improve safety.

The proximity hub gadget is an interface device designed to be installed in a cab of a motorized rail vehicle . It has a knob used to select the frequency channel. It features a display and a beeper that indicate proximity of obstacles to a sensor. There can be many sensors in the world, but the hub only focuses on specific ones, determined by a mode selection knob - automatic and channel.

Automatic mode focuses on one of the two outermost sensors in the train, depending on the vehicle's reverser setting. The channel mode focuses on all sensors with the selected frequency channel.

The proximity sensor gadget is a device designed to be placed on a coupler , at either end of a train. It features a range setting, determining how far ahead an obstacle is to be detected, as well as a frequency channel setting.

Proximity hub gadget requires electrical connections to function.
