Difficulty in Derail Valley is defined by many individual parameters, collectively called presets. These parameters may be viewed in difficulty editor, accessible from the “sessions” section of the main menu, where they are described in more detail via hover tooltips.

Il existe trois préréglages de difficulté par défaut inclus dans le jeu. Ils sont chacun conçus pour offrir une expérience différente :

Confort - Détendu, indulgent et autorisant diverses fonctionnalités de confort et aides.

Standard - Stimulant et dynamique, nécessitant de la réflexion, mais pas trop punitif.

Réaliste - Difficile et impitoyable, nécessitant un haut niveau de concentration.

Les utilisateurs peuvent également créer et partager leurs propres préréglages de difficulté.
