Microshunter, also known as BE2-260 , is a tiny battery-electric locomotive and a work train , used to carry out minor towing and maneuvering operations where track layout , or time restrictions, prevent the use of a regular locomotive . To become available, the microshunter needs to be unlocked from a special garage, with a key that can be bought in one of the shops .

Once unlocked, the microshunter can be requested with the comms radio for a fee , depending on the session difficulty settings . The microshunter can receive damage , consumes electricity and needs to be manually serviced .
