The Boombox radio feature works by playing real-life radio stations over the internet.

To play the radio using the boombox, you need to set the mode knob to “Radio”. Then, using the tune knob, you can choose the radio station you'd like to play.

Derail Valley comes with a few partner stations preinstalled, but it can be customized to play radio stations of your choice, too.
