Caboose is a {{pll|Rail Vehicle Types|car}} and a {{pll|Work Trains Overview|work train}}, used as a multi-purpose crew support vehicle. To become available, the caboose needs to be unlocked from a special garage, with a key that can be bought in one of the {{pll|Shops|shops}}.
Caboose is a work train used as a multi-purpose support vehicle to the crew. It needs to be unlocked first in order to become available to the driver. To unlock it, the driver must buy a key to a special garage in one of the shops, find the garage and open it.


Once unlocked, the caboose can be towed or summoned using the comms radio for a fee, depending on the session difficulty settings. The caboose cannot be damaged and it doesn't have service costs.

Caboose has a number of useful features. Its spacious interior can be used to store items and sleep in. It shows a marker on the world map, making it useful to track the exact end of the train. The driver can "jump" between the caboose and any motorized vehicle on the train for free, instantaneously, using the world map. The caboose features a powerful handbrake, which can be used to slow down heavy trains when going downhill. Its brake shoes are resilient to overheating and don’t cause wheelslide either. With a career manager located inside, caboose can also be used as a mobile service point.

Caboose is very useful for yard operations too. It carries a signal booster inside, extending the range of a locomotive remote controller by 2000 meters. It's also equipped with a charger that can be used to charge battery-powered items, such as the locomotive remote controller and flashlight.
